PETER-BLACK-GUITARIST
GUITAR ACADEMY
I currently run a thriving and successful Classical Guitar teaching practice delivering face-to-face lessons in E11 East London, with online options on Zoom. I have over 20 years’ experience of supporting both adults and children achieve their goals with the guitar. My own dedication to practising and studying the instrument has given me a full range of recognised qualifications which can be viewed by clicking here.
‘Peter was a great find for us!’

I teach people from beginner to grade 8 level Classical guitar. I run two exceptionally engaging and enjoyable beginners’ courses. I recommend children to first try the guitar aged 6 and I welcome older children and adults of all ages as beginners. My beginners’ courses will give students a solid grounding in the instrument and set them up for further progress in any musical direction.

‘Our son now spends more time on his guitar than he does on his Xbox’

Studying Classical guitar and the grading system are what I offer to students who have reached foundation level and want to keep studying. I like to offer some practical variety by teaching people about chords and strumming. I can also support people gaining theory qualifications, and I enjoy occasionally working on Rock and Popular music as an add on to studying for grades or classical repertoire in general.

What I love the most is teaching students who really want to learn, are keen to progress, and are dedicated to the goals that they have in their mind:

  • I have helped people achieve distinction at Grade 8 level and move on to conservatoire study or a music degree at universities.
  • Many of my students have gained UCAS points for their university applications.
  • Many of my students use the guitar as a skill on their Duke of Edinburgh awards.
  • A number of my students have received music scholarships to highly reputable private schools.
  • I have helped many students with their theory qualifications.
  • I have supported many students with their GCSE and A-Level music studies, particularly with their assessed performances.
  • Some of my former students have chosen a career in music and have become teachers, musicians and performers themselves.

I feel a sense of fulfilment when my students achieve their goals. I also enjoy listening to my students perform well on the instrument that I love. As such, I encourage the most dedicated and ambitious students to enquire about lessons with me.
